Wooyung Nature Reserve, established in March 1999, spans 87 hectares along the far north coast of New South Wales. This secluded coastal haven features a long stretch of golden beach bordered by littoral rainforest and coastal wetlands. The name 'Wooyung' means 'slow' in the local Bundjalung language, reflecting the area's tranquil atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy beach fishing, surfing, and walking along Mooball Beach, as well as birdwatching and, during winter migrations, whale watching.
