Woorabinda, meaning "kangaroo sit down," is a remote Indigenous community in Central Queensland, approximately 170 km southwest of Rockhampton and 65 km south of Duaringa. Established in 1927, it is situated on the traditional lands of the Wadja and Gungaloo Aboriginal peoples. The community comprises about 1,019 residents from approximately 52 clans, representing a diverse array of language groups across Queensland. Woorabinda offers essential services, including a hospital, primary and secondary schools, childcare facilities, and a sports complex. The area is also home to the Woorabinda Pastoral Company, which manages large farming properties producing grain, cotton, chickpeas, and beef.
