Wonuarra, SA

Wonuarra is a small locality situated southeast of Paringa in South Australia's Riverland region. Positioned east of the Sturt Highway between Paringa and Yamba, it extends from the highway to the Victorian state border. Historically, Wonuarra was a siding on the Barmera railway line, primarily handling bagged wheat shipments. In the 1960s, a branch line was constructed to support the proposed Chowilla Dam project, but the dam was never built, and the railway line was removed without being used.
