Explore the rich history of the Woady Yaloak District at the Woady Yaloak Historical Society in Smythesdale. Established in 1985, the society preserves and shares the area's goldfields heritage, local communities, infrastructure, and First Nations histories. The Historic Precinct features unique buildings such as the Blue Stone Police Lock-up, Stables, Gallows, Courthouse, Sexton's Office, and local art. The research room offers a wealth of family folders, photos, and letters, bringing local history to life. The Courthouse, built in 1861, is open for viewing. The society also hosts a Country Market on the third Saturday of each month at the Historic Precinct, Brooke Street, Smythesdale, from 9 am to 1 pm. The research office is located at 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale, Victoria.
