Nestled along a picturesque creek, the heritage-listed Willunga Courthouse and Slate Museums offer a captivating glimpse into South Australia's rich history. The Courthouse Museum features an authentic 19th-century courtroom, complete with jury and witness boxes, cells, and an exercise yard, ideal for engaging courtroom re-enactments. Adjacent to it, the Slate Museum, unique in Australia, showcases the discovery and development of the slate industry, highlighting the tools and lives of the Cornish quarrymen who shaped the region. The grounds, with their charming picnic areas and self-guided nature trail, provide a serene setting for outdoor weddings and community events. Open on the first Saturday and third Sunday of each month from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, admission is free, with donations appreciated. Please note, the museums are closed during the winter months of June, July, and August.
