Wellington Park, an 18,011-hectare reserve near Hobart, Tasmania, offers diverse recreational opportunities amidst stunning natural landscapes. Stretching westward from the 1,271-meter summit of kunanyi / Mount Wellington, the park features dramatic cliff faces, boulder fields, waterfalls, fern glades, and remarkable dolerite rock formations. Visitors can enjoy a network of trails suitable for walking, running, mountain biking, horse riding (with permit), and recreational 4WDs (with permit). Popular spots include The Springs picnic area with the Lost Freight Café, Cathedral Rock, Myrtle Forest, the Octopus Tree, Sphinx Rock, the Organ Pipes, and Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park. Facilities such as parking, toilets, and disabled access are available at key locations. The park is open daily with free entry; however, Pinnacle Road to the summit may be closed due to snow and ice—check the City of Hobart's website for live road status updates.
