Wamberal Lagoon Nature Reserve, established in 1981, spans 139 hectares on the NSW Central Coast, approximately 10 km east of Gosford, between Terrigal and The Entrance. It features one of the region's best-preserved coastal lagoons, wetlands, and barrier dunes, along with undisturbed littoral rainforest. The reserve is home to protected migratory birds, including the great egret, Pacific golden plover, Latham’s snipe, bar-tailed godwit, red-necked stint, curlew sandpiper, and white-bellied sea eagle. Over 90% of the lagoon's catchment lies outside the reserve, making its protection reliant on cooperation with neighboring areas and Gosford City Council.
