Nestled in Tasmania's Central Highlands, the Waddamana Power Station Heritage Site offers a glimpse into the state's industrial past. As Hydro Tasmania's first power station, commissioned in 1916, it was pivotal in the Great Lake Power Scheme, marking Tasmania's entry into the industrial age. Visitors can explore the restored turbine hall, featuring original Pelton wheel turbines, and view exhibits that narrate the challenges and triumphs of early hydro-electric development. The site is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, with free admission.
