Located within the University of Tasmania's Union Building on Churchill Avenue in Sandy Bay, the Uni Bar has been a cornerstone of Hobart's live music scene since 1976. Over the decades, it has hosted a diverse array of artists, including Cold Chisel, Paul Kelly, Powderfinger, Public Enemy, and the Divinyls. The venue has also served as a vibrant social hub for students, offering a relaxed atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating, a pool table, and a jukebox. In 2025, the University of Tasmania decided not to renew the Uni Bar's lease, leading to its closure in June after nearly five decades of operation.
