Tyagarah Nature Reserve, spanning 875 hectares, stretches over 7 km of pristine coastline between Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads. This protected area features diverse ecosystems, including coastal heath, wetlands, and rainforests, safeguarding six endangered ecological communities and 33 threatened plant species. Visitors can enjoy activities such as swimming, sunbathing, fishing, and bushwalking along the dunes. In spring, the reserve offers excellent whale-watching opportunities as humpback whales migrate along the coast. The reserve holds significant cultural importance for the Bundjalung people, particularly the Arakwal community.
