Thompsons Creek Dam, situated near Wallerawang, NSW, serves as a vital off-creek water storage for the Mount Piper and Wallerawang power stations. This picturesque reservoir is renowned among anglers for its trophy-sized rainbow and brown trout, offering some of the finest lake-based fishing in New South Wales. Access is granted exclusively to anglers, requiring a 25-minute walk from the car park to the dam wall. Fishing is permitted from one hour before sunrise until four hours after sunset, with strict regulations in place to preserve the fishery's quality. Notably, in January 2025, approximately 1,500 tiger trout were released into the dam as part of a three-year trial to enhance the fishery.
