The Wilderness Society Newcastle, located at INNX Hub, 61–63 Parry Street, Newcastle West, is dedicated to environmental advocacy and conservation. Established in the early 1980s, the group has been instrumental in campaigns such as protecting Barrington Tops and Stockton Bight, advocating for a Wilderness Act, and opposing coal seam gas exploration in the Pilliga Forest. They also work to safeguard marine environments from offshore gas fields along the Newcastle coast and prevent new coal mines from impacting wilderness areas. The team comprises Campaign Manager Victoria Jack and Community Organiser Bronwyn McDonald. Office hours are Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 5 pm.
