The Pines Conservation Reserve, located 7 km from Kapunda on Tarlee Road, is a tranquil haven blending natural bushland with rich history. Established in the 1880s as a forestry plantation, it features two walking trails: an 800-meter loop and a 1.6-kilometer loop, both offering scenic views. The historic Taylor’s Run Reservoir, built in 1879, supplied water to Kapunda until 1957 and remains a focal point. The recently restored Turncock House, constructed in 1879, and the Water Tower are notable landmarks. Amenities include picnic tables, a shelter shed, and a toilet block, enhancing the experience for visitors. Managed by dedicated volunteers with support from the Light Regional Council, The Pines offers a serene escape for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
