The Old Monastery

Nestled in the serene Barrington Tops foothills, The Old Monastery in Stroud offers a tranquil retreat within the Franciscan tradition. Established in 1980, its distinctive mud-brick architecture includes the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Gunya Chiara hall, and various accommodations like the Monastery building with 16 bedrooms, the Old Library, Hobbit House, and Tree House. The venue hosts retreats, workshops, and events, fostering simplicity, peace, hope, and healing. Managed by the non-profit Friends of the Monastery, it continues to provide a unique environment for contemplation and spiritual growth.
