The Malaya, a Sydney institution since 1963, has relocated to Grosvenor Place at 225 George Street, returning to its original roots. The two-level, 180-seat restaurant features a spacious outdoor terrace overlooking George Street. Under the guidance of third-generation siblings Duan and Isabella Wong, the menu continues to showcase beloved Malaysian, Nonya, and Indonesian dishes, including the original Malaya curry and laksa. New additions like XO pipis and kam heong mud crab highlight a refreshed focus on seafood. The beverage program has been elevated with a curated wine list emphasizing Australian and German rieslings, complemented by aromatic, spice-led cocktails. Designed by Anouk & Co., the interior boasts natural light, cork flooring, and contemporary furnishings, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Semi-private dining spaces are available for intimate gatherings and corporate events. The Malaya is open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, offering a dynamic dining experience in the heart of Sydney's CBD.
