Established in 1931, Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Life Saving Club is the northernmost club in the Hunter Branch, dedicated to ensuring beach safety from September through the April school holidays. The club offers various roles, including specialist First Aid and Life Support positions, as well as opportunities to operate jet-skis and Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRBs). Members can participate in surf sports such as beach flags, sprints, surf swim, board paddling, surf ski, and iron man events. The Nippers program, for children aged 5 to 14, teaches essential beach and surf skills, preparing them for the Bronze Medallion Award. The club also emphasizes community involvement, with initiatives like the "Super Heroes" program, which has been recognized with awards for its contributions.
