Tarranyurk is a rural locality in Victoria's Mallee region, situated approximately 8 km south of Jeparit and nearly directly west of Warracknabeal. The Wimmera River lies about 2 km to the west. The name is believed to derive from an Aboriginal word describing a wooden container or dish. Historically, the area experienced growth with the establishment of schools in the late 19th century and the opening of a store, which operated until the 1960s. Today, the community is characterized by its agricultural activities, including grain silos and a Country Fire Authority station. The population has declined over the years, with 30 residents recorded in the 2016 census.
