Tarragal Caves

Tarragal Caves, nestled near Cape Bridgewater in Victoria, are a network of limestone caves and rock shelters overlooking the Bridgewater Lakes. These caves, accessible via a steep 50-meter climb from Bridgewater Lakes Road, offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Excavations in the late 1970s revealed Aboriginal camping sites with deposits over 11,000 years old. One cave extends over 400 meters underground and features a sinkhole believed to be inhabited by supernatural beings. Visitors can explore these historic and geological features, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the area.
