Tamworth Historical Society

Nestled at 142 Denison Street, Tamworth Historical Society's Calala Cottage Museum offers a captivating journey through the region's rich past. The museum showcases a diverse collection of over 20,000 items, including photographs, maps, letters, textiles, and agricultural equipment. Notable exhibits feature the 1875 Calala House, built by Tamworth's first mayor, Philip Gidley King, and the original Slab Hut from the mid-1800s. Visitors can explore the Moonbi Beehive Schoolhouse, the Blacksmiths Shop, and the Hill and King Collections, each providing unique insights into Tamworth's heritage.
