Venue

Sydney, NSW

The Concert Hall at Sydney Opera House is renowned for its cathedral-like ambiance and exceptional acoustics, offering a memorable performance experience. It accommodates up to 2,664 people in the round or 2,102 facing the stage. The hall underwent extensive renovations completed in July 2022, enhancing its acoustics and accessibility. Notably, 18 computer-controlled acoustic reflectors, finished in a semi-gloss magenta matching the seat upholstery, have been installed above the stage. The stage has been lowered by 400mm to improve sightlines and create more intimacy between artists and audiences. A new lift and passageway have improved accessibility, making it possible for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility to independently access all levels of the Concert Hall, including its spectacular Northern Foyer, some for the first time. The Concert Hall is located beneath the largest of Sydney Opera House’s roof sails, filling the upper levels of the west side of the building. It is best accessed through the covered concourse. All foyers are accessible, with lifts to the main and western foyers. The public lift to all foyers is accessible from the corridor near the escalators on the Lower Concourse and also in the Western Foyer via the corridor on the Ground Level (at the top of the escalators).
