Storm King Dam, located 10 kilometers southeast of Stanthorpe on Eukey Road, is a picturesque reservoir nestled in the Southern Downs Region of Queensland. Surrounded by native bushland, it offers a serene setting for picnics, water sports, and fishing. The dam is home to various fish species, including golden perch, Murray cod, silver perch, jew, and river blackfish. Anglers over 18 years of age require a fishing permit, available from any Australia Post outlet. Facilities include toilets, picnic tables, wood barbecues, drinking water, a jetty, boat ramp, swimming area, and playground. Camping is not permitted at the dam; however, a private tourist park offers camping and caravan sites, and a recreational/youth camp is available for large group bookings.
