Stockyard Plain

Stockyard Plain, located in South Australia's Riverland region, is a tranquil rural area approximately 133 kilometers east-northeast of Adelaide. The suburb encompasses 311.76 square kilometers and has a small population of 17 residents. The area is characterized by its natural scrublands and diverse wildlife, including mallee, acacias, sugarwoods, grevilleas, honeyeaters, wrens, finches, kangaroos, and emus. The night sky offers exceptional stargazing opportunities due to minimal light pollution. For those interested in camping, the Stockyard Plain Rest Area provides a free camping spot along the Sturt Highway.
