SteamFest Tasmania, held annually over the March long weekend in Sheffield, celebrates the steam era with a vast collection of operational vintage machinery. The 2025 event, marking its 30th anniversary, features steam traction engines, steam and diesel train rides on the Redwater Creek railway, and Tasmania's largest tractor pull. Visitors can enjoy vintage tractor displays, working blacksmith demonstrations, Clydesdale rides, and farm animal exhibits. The festival also includes a wood-chopping competition, steampunk and Victorian costume contests, and a variety of food and craft stalls. The spacious 8-hectare grounds, located behind the railway station on Main and Spring Streets, accommodate up to 10,000 attendees without feeling crowded. The event is wheelchair accessible, and dogs on leads are welcome.
