Southbank Theatre, located at 140 Southbank Boulevard, serves as the principal home of the Melbourne Theatre Company. Designed by the award-winning ARM Architecture, the venue opened in 2009 and features two performance spaces: the 559-seat Sumner Theatre and the 163-seat Lawler Studio. The Sumner Theatre offers advanced stage technology and a flexible stage, accommodating a wide range of theatre styles. The Lawler Studio is ideal for experimental and developmental works, as well as play readings by emerging playwrights. Additional amenities include function rooms, foyers, and extensive backstage facilities. The theatre also houses Miss Pearl Bar + Dining, providing a contemporary dining experience.
