Sinnamon Park, QLD

Sinnamon Farm, located at 693 Seventeen Mile Rocks Road, Sinnamon Park, Queensland, is a heritage-listed site that showcases Queensland's early rural settlement and agricultural history. Established between 1869 and the 1890s, the farm comprises several significant structures, including a gable-roofed house from the late 1860s, two residences from the 1880s-90s, slab outbuildings, and an 1870s gable-roofed schoolhouse. These buildings exemplify typical timber constructions of rural Queensland during that era. The site also holds historical significance for its association with the Sinnamon family, who have been prominent in local affairs and the development of the district since the 1860s. Notably, in 1910, the farm was the location of pioneering glider flights and the first officially observed flight in Queensland of a heavier-than-air machine by Thomas Macleod. This event is commemorated by a plaque adjacent to the relocated schoolhouse. Sinnamon Farm was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992, recognizing its importance in illustrating the evolution of Queensland's history and its rare grouping of 19th-century farm dwellings and associated community buildings.
