Sherwood Arboretum, established in 1925, is Brisbane's only botanic garden dedicated exclusively to Australian native trees. Spanning 15 hectares, it features over 1,350 trees representing approximately 250 species, including a notable avenue of 72 kauri pines. Visitors can enjoy large grassy areas, two playgrounds, picnic spots, electric and wood barbecues, and a riverside boardwalk. The arboretum is free to enter and welcomes dogs. In 2025, it celebrates its centenary with various enhancements to its facilities and botanical collections.
