Nestled in a historic building at 150 Rainbow Street, Sandgate, the Sandgate & District Historical Society and Museum is dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of the local community. Established in 1983 and opening its museum in 1994, the Society offers a diverse collection of photographs, artifacts, and documents that chronicle the area's past. Visitors can explore thematic displays, a small library, and a vast archive of local history. The museum is open on Wednesdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with entrance fees of $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children. Guided historical walks and talks are also available, providing deeper insights into the region's history.
