Established in 1973, Saint Mary Romanian Orthodox Church in Croydon Park is the first church in Australia built in the traditional Romanian architectural style. The church was consecrated on June 1, 1980, by Bishop Antonie of Buzău. Its interior features murals by Doru Dumitru Slădescu and Cristina Slădescu, depicting 31 Romanian and universal saints, as well as 12 biblical scenes. The church also houses a library with hundreds of books on art, literature, history, and folklore. In 2024, the roof was repaired, and broken tiles were replaced.
