Established in 2000, it encompasses sections 1450, 1451, and 1533 of the Hundred of Belvidere. The area is rich in history, with the St John the Evangelist church's foundation stone laid on April 2, 1850, and completed by April 30, 1854. A school opened in 1859, operated by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart from 1868, and later became a reformatory for girls from 1897 until its closure in 1909.
