The Richmond River Historical Society, established in 1936, is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history of North Eastern New South Wales. Housed in the historic Lismore Municipal Building at 165 Molesworth Street, the Society manages the award-winning Lismore Museum, renowned for its extensive collection of artifacts, documents, and photographs that narrate the diverse stories of the region's 140,000 residents. The museum offers visitors a chance to explore the area's past through engaging displays and research archives. Managed entirely by volunteers, the Society also produces a quarterly Bulletin and organizes various events, including talks, tours, and special displays, fostering a deeper connection with the community's heritage.
