The Richmond Football Club, known as the Tigers, is a professional Australian rules football team competing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Founded on February 20, 1885, in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond, the club has a storied history spanning over 140 years. Initially competing in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) from 1885 to 1907, where it won two premierships, Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now AFL) in 1908. Since then, the club has secured 13 premierships, with recent successes in 2017, 2019, and 2020, though it finished last in the AFL in 2024, earning the wooden spoon.
