Rewind Cinema

Rewind Cinema, once nestled in New Town, Hobart, was a cherished independent cinema that specialized in showcasing films from the 1980s and 1990s. Housed in the historic Hidden Theatre, designed by colonial architect John Lee Archer, the venue offered an intimate setting for film enthusiasts to relive classic movies. Patrons enjoyed comfortable seating, including couches and beanbags, and a selection of traditional snacks like freshly popped popcorn and choc tops. The cinema also featured retro video games and hosted themed events, creating a nostalgic atmosphere for all ages. In early 2025, Rewind Cinema faced venue challenges and ceased operations at its New Town location. The team has since been organizing pop-up screenings across Tasmania, continuing to share the magic of classic cinema with audiences.
