Proserpine Historical Museum

Nestled in Proserpine, Queensland, the Proserpine Historical Museum offers an immersive journey through the region's rich past. Its extensive collection spans from the indigenous Juru, Gia, Bira, and Ngaro peoples to early European settlers and post-war communities. Exhibits delve into the sugar cane industry, gold mining, and the Gunyarra World War II Gas Experimental Station. A small theatre showcases DVDs on local topics and notable figures. Managed entirely by volunteers, the museum also features a foyer shop with locally crafted items, souvenirs, and pre-loved books. Open Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm, and Friday from 9 am to 2 pm, it offers a captivating glimpse into the area's heritage.
