
The Portland Drill Hall, constructed between 1887 and 1888, is a single-story weatherboard building of State historical significance. It is the only building of its type in Victoria with a gun shed used for gun drill. Originally built for the Portland detachment of the Victorian Mounted Rifle Regiment, the hall has played an important role in the region's defense history and has been utilized for various community purposes over the years.
