Situated within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula, it recorded a population of 178 at the 2021 census. The town features a general store, an active surf lifesaving club, and a boat club. The expansive foreshore reserve offers picnic, barbecue, and camping areas, providing access to the surf beach. A gate fee is payable for entry. Public transport does not service Point Leo directly; however, bus route 782 passes within 2 kilometers of the town.
