The playground, upgraded in 2020, features an astronomy-themed design with a swing set, climbing box with monkey bars, junior rocket ship with slide, spinning capsule, rocker, and more. Additional amenities include a commemorative shelter, new seating, a water refill station, enhanced landscaping, and tree planting. The park is historically significant as the birthplace of Australian Radio Astronomy, where, on 3 October 1945, Dr. Joseph Pawsey, Ruby Payne-Scott, and Lindsay McReady conducted the first successful Australian radio observations of the sun using a RAAF WWII radar unit.
