The area is characterized by its diverse geography, with the eastern part being lower-lying and used for grazing, while the western part is more mountainous and undeveloped. The northern section is part of the Malmaison State Forest, and the southwestern and southern parts are within the Pile Gully State Forest, which extends into neighboring Old Cooranga.
