The Philip Smith Centre, located at 71 Brooker Avenue in Glebe, Tasmania, is a heritage-listed building that has been thoughtfully refurbished to serve as a hub for teaching and learning activities. Originally constructed in 1909-10 for the Hobart Teacher’s Training College, it was the first purpose-built facility in Tasmania for teacher training. The recent redevelopment has preserved original elements such as internal brickwork, timber flooring, and cast iron downpipes, while introducing modern amenities like a DDA-compliant lift and fully accessible facilities. The Centre continues to support the community by hosting various educational events and programs.
