Penambol Conservation Park

Penambol Conservation Park, situated near Caroline in South Australia's Limestone Coast region, conserves a significant area of remnant vegetation and features notable geological formations, including the Caroline Sinkhole. Excavations in the sinkhole have uncovered evidence of the Boandik Peoples, indicating its historical use as a shelter. The park offers educational walking trails such as the Wombat Walk, which passes by common wombat burrows, and the Butterfly Walk, showcasing local species like the splendid ochre butterfly. An evening visit provides the best opportunity to observe wombats in their natural habitat.
