
Parkes Observatory, located 20 kilometers north of Parkes, New South Wales, is home to Murriyang, the 64-meter CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope, also known as "The Dish." Operational since 1961, this iconic telescope operates 24/7, contributing significantly to astronomical research. Visitors can explore the Visitors Centre, which features exhibits on the telescope's history, astronomy, and space science, as well as a 3D movie theatre. The observatory is open daily from 8:30 am to 4:15 pm, including public holidays, and offers free entry to the Visitors Centre and telescope viewing area.
