Eraring Power Station, located near Dora Creek on the western shore of Lake Macquarie, is Australia's largest coal-fired power plant, boasting a capacity of 2,880 MW. Operated by Origin Energy, the station comprises four 720 MW units, each equipped with Toshiba steam-driven turbo-alternators. The facility began operations in 1984 and has been a significant contributor to New South Wales' electricity supply. In May 2024, the New South Wales Government secured an agreement with Origin Energy to extend the station's operation until August 2027, ensuring continued energy reliability during the transition to renewable energy sources.
