Opened in 1969, the Octagon Theatre at the University of Western Australia is Australia's first thrust stage, offering an intimate performance experience with 683 tiered seats. Its versatile design accommodates opera, classical and popular music, dance, theatre, stand-up comedy, and seminars. The stage can be expanded to 12 meters wide or entirely removed, adding 53 seats, and half-stage removal reveals an orchestra pit. Facilities include a green room, two large dressing rooms for 70 cast members, and a 120-square-meter rehearsal studio. A comprehensive lighting and sound rig ensures most technical requirements are met in-house. The theatre's excellent sightlines and refurbished front-of-house areas, including new seating and lighting, enhance the audience experience.
