Newmont Cadia Operations, located approximately 25 kilometers from Orange in Central West New South Wales, is one of Australia's largest gold mining operations. The site features the Cadia East underground mine, renowned for its vast gold and copper deposits, and commenced commercial production in January 2013 using the panel caving mining method. Additional facilities include the Cadia Hill Pit Tailings Storage Facility and the Ridgeway underground mine, currently in care and maintenance. The operation produces gold doré bars and gold-rich copper concentrates, which are piped to a dewatering plant at nearby Blayney and sent by rail to Port Kembla for export. In March 2022, the Molybdenum Plant was commissioned, expected to deliver an additional revenue stream through molybdenum concentrate.
