Buckrabanyule, VIC

Nardoo Hills Reserves, located near Buckrabanyule in north-central Victoria, encompass 5.9 square kilometers of protected land. Managed by Bush Heritage Australia since 2005, these reserves safeguard remnant grassy woodlands, a habitat significantly reduced in the region. The area is home to over 110 bird species, including the nationally endangered Swift Parrot, which migrates from Tasmania to feed on the flowering eucalypts. Notably, the Robust Greenhood orchid, once thought extinct, has been rediscovered here, with over 100 individuals now thriving. The reserves also support diverse ecosystems, including endangered flora and fauna, and offer opportunities for guided walks to explore their natural beauty.
