Situated within the Wakefield Regional Council, it lies along both sides of Highway 1, connecting Port Wakefield to the south and Snowtown to the north. The area is characterized by its expansive agricultural landscapes and is historically notable for its grain silos, which were demolished in January 2024. The name 'Nantawarra' is believed to derive from the Kaurna language, meaning 'northern yerta' or family group.
