Muurrbay Aboriginal Language and Culture Co-operative, located in Nambucca Heads, NSW, is dedicated to revitalising Aboriginal languages and cultures across seven communities in central to northern New South Wales. Established in 1986 by Gumbaynggirr Elders and linguist Brother Steve Morelli, Muurrbay has been instrumental in preserving and promoting the Gumbaynggirr language. The centre offers a range of language classes, from introductory online courses to intensive workshops, and provides resources such as dictionary-grammars and teaching materials. Muurrbay also collaborates with local schools to integrate language programs, fostering cultural pride and identity among students.
