Established in 1959, Mount Stuart Scout Group has been fostering youth development in Mount Stuart and surrounding areas for over six decades. Meeting at the Mount Stuart Memorial Hall on Byard Street, the group offers programs for various age groups: - **Joey Scouts (5-8 years old):** Meet on Wednesday nights. - **Cub Scouts (8-11 years old):** Meet on Thursday nights. - **Scouts (11-15 years old):** Meet on Wednesday nights. - **Venturers (15-18 years old):** Meet on Monday nights. These sections follow the Tasmanian public school term and holiday calendar. The group emphasizes life skills such as risk assessment, first aid, leadership, teamwork, and responsibility, aiming to help youth grow into mature, understanding, trustworthy, and compassionate individuals. Leaders undergo comprehensive training, including online courses, weekend camps, and projects, culminating in VET Certificate IV qualifications in Leadership and Frontline Management. The group is always welcoming prospective new members to all of its sections.
