Mount Nelson, TAS

Perched atop Mount Nelson, the historic Signal Station offers panoramic views of Hobart, the River Derwent, and, on clear days, Bruny Island. Established in 1811, it was Tasmania's first signal station, facilitating communication between Hobart and Port Arthur. Adjacent to the station, the Signal Station Brasserie, housed in the original head signalman’s residence built in 1897, provides a delightful dining experience. Visitors can also enjoy picnic facilities and a 90-minute bushwalk through the Truganini Conservation Area, home to diverse vegetation and native wildlife, including the endangered swift parrot.
