Perched atop Mount Kynoch, the Mount Kynoch Water Treatment Plant is a pivotal facility for Toowoomba and its surrounding regions. Established in 1975, it underwent a significant $40 million upgrade completed in July 2024, enhancing its capacity to meet the area's growing water demands. The plant now boasts an additional 16 megalitres per day capacity, with plans for an ultimate staged conventional treatment capacity of 65 megalitres per day by 2031. Modernized processes, including ultraviolet disinfection, ensure high water quality and community health benefits.
