The area is renowned for the Weld River Fossicking Area, a 2 km² site east of the Tasman Highway, where enthusiasts can search for sapphires, topaz, and zircon. The town's history is rich, with its original name, Krushka’s Bridge, dating back to 1869, later renamed in honor of Truganini's sister.
